When Rich returned to his old station and rebuilt it bigger and better than ever!

Like many people, Rich was looking for a job after the pandemic. One job posting on LinkedIn caught his eye. It was for his old radio station in Tucson, Arizona. Rich reached out to the station and told them he was available. And just like that, he was returning to the desert.

He came back to a station that had been devastated by the pandemic. The Pac12 had shut down sports, and the station had lost all its energy. They had lost their PD and local talk show and needed to jump-start the station. Herrera returned to a station that was dead in the water with no live play-by-play and no sports to discuss. The station’s imaging had become stale during the COVID disruption, and sales had stagnated.
Rich began overhauling the station remotely from his home in San Diego. As Pac12 began playing football again, he quickly upgraded the station’s imaging packages and eventually brought in a new station voice and production partner. The station embraced the Wildcats now that play began once again on campus.

The school struggled when play began and saw the Football and Basketball coaches fired in one year. Rich was embarrassed by the moment’s chaos and expanded local coverage of both sports, including live coverage of all breaking news and school press conferences.

Once again, Rich took the station on the road to meet the fans where they are , at local hot spots near campus and on campus on gameday.

Rich also extended the station’s reach by standing up streaming video to showcase the station’s local shows and Wildcats pre/post-game shows. All local shows are now available on Facebook Live, Twitter, Twitch, and YouTube every day.
