Military Salute at Home Run Derby

Charlotte’s Web CBD KPI

  • Activate an on-field military salute (July 10th), the day of the product launched at the All-Star Game. (July 11th).
  • Work cross-functionally with CW’s VP of Corporate Social Responsibility.
  • Seamlessly Coordinate on-field salute with MLB production staff and partnership team.
  • Coordinate VIP guests and travel with third-party charity organizations.

Concept/Activation: We worked with our Corporate Social Responsibility to bring two Army veterans from the Adaptive Training Foundation in San Antonio, Texas, to be recognized at T Mobile Park Seattle. I was responsible for vetting the participants and coordinating their travel to Seattle. I worked with a designer to create a baseball jersey for our staff to wear at Play Ball Park and invited our veterans to wear our jersey with our new brand name for our activation, along with All-Star Game Caps. They enjoyed the first round of the derby, sitting with the players on the rail of the first base dugout. I was able to add up their experience by using my connections within baseball to secure a meet and greet with American League Manager Dusty Baker (US Marine Corp Vet himself). I arranged to have former Mariners’ All-Star and MVP of the Celebrity Softball, Game Bret Boone, to be introduced along with our guests on the scoreboard between the first and second rounds of the Home Run Derby. Boone’s presence as a well-known Mariner drew extra attention from the home crowd.

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
