The 2015 MLB season is underway and there are some early trends that may be outliers or we might have misjudged some teams leading up to the beginning of the season. The Kansas City Royals have not lost any steam after making it to the 2014 World Series after decades upon decades of futility. Most teams that play that far into the season will have a hangover to begin the next season. But not these guys. The Royals have looked good early on playing strong defense and with solid pitching. This season they have started hitting home runs as well. Do they have unfinished business from last season seems like it.

The Detroit Tigers were a team that was supposed to have the window begin to close, but apparently no one told the Tigers. They are still a offensive machine and now with bit more athleticism they are also swiping bags this to begin the year. The AL Central looks to be a division with plenty of talent, and deep teams. The White Sox have slipped getting out of the gate and the Indians have yet to hit a stride. Should be a fun year to be a fan in that division.

The Miami Marlins have gotten off to a S L O W start for a team that I picked to challenge the Washington Nationals in the NL East. Giancarlo Stanton began to hit tonight going 3-3 with 4 RBI. Once he picks it up I am pretty confident that they will get it going. Their issue will be so many games in the division in the first month of the season. The Mets are feeling good about themselves and why shouldn’t they? With Matt Harvey back it gives them a boost that makes even the most pessimistic Mets fan smile.

The Giants are struggling to begin the season. My biggest concern for the Giants was where was the offense going to come from with Panada and Morse moving on. San Francisco is also missing Hunter Pence, and need him to get it going. Might be a long season for the Giants, but they get their 3rd Word Series ring this week so all is not bad for them.

By the way my fantasy team is off to a good start. I play with some of my knuckle head friends from college and this season we let our kids play with us. My son drafted for the first time this season and tried to draft the entire Giants roster. I have been helping him make some roster moves but am afraid I might have helped him too much because he now has a team that might be better than mine. Ouch

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
