Tonight is the opening night for Minor League Baseball across the country.  Tonight I went to see the Florida State League Clearwater Threshers host the Duniden Blue Jays.  My freind Grant Paulson of MLB Network Radio could tell you anything you need to know about tonight’s players, for me I recognize Dominic Brown who is rehabbing for the Phillies and that’s about it, because for me tonight is about enjoying a game with family and friends.image image image

There is something special about going to a Florida State League Game, something relaxing.  I grew up going to see the Salinas Angels at Muni Stadium across the street from my little league park in northern California.  It was a place that my grandpa would pick me up and take me to the game and all I wanted was a plastic helmet bank.  We would go with my family on Sunday when a local sponsor and would have free tickets and my Nani would take all her grandkids to the game with sacks of sandwiches she made chips we brought with us.

I have been to many ballparks and sat in some of the best seats in the house over the years but right now I’d give just about anything to have my grandpa hand me that helmet bank I wanted so badly or my Nani hand me a warm ham and cheese sandwich.

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
